One of the best pieces of advice I received from Midge Martin was to start with the best linebred bitch I could as a foundation for my kennel. Daisy was all that and more. I remember watching this litter of 7 little girls sitting on Midge's kitchen floor and one kept coming back and saying "pick me". Both Midge and I knew she was one of the best in the litter and I wondered if Midge would let me have her. I was so thrilled to take her home and I have adored this girl since the moment I first saw her. Not sure why we called he Daisy...but it stuck. She has had a very strong show career...she completed her US Championship in very few shows. It was such a thrill for me to show her there and in her first show she took a 5-point major over 13 other bitches. She received a number of Best Puppy in Groups in Canada and a short but very successful show career in the US handled by Bryan Martin and Midge. In 2005, we bred Daisy and Rootie which produced a litter of 6 pups, two of which I kept - Casey (Ch. Harbour Deep Victory at Sea SW) and Rosie (The Roses of Harbour Deep SW). She was bred again in 2007 to Ch. Treis Pinheiros Black Bear SW (ZORRO) and gave us a terrific litter of 4 boys and 4 girls. We kept two of the girls – Gracie and Bridget and looking forward to presenting them in upcoming shows during 2008.

Rosie is the female pup I kept from my first litter out of Daisy. She has her mother's very sweet disposition and, like her father Rootie, is really starting to love the show ring. She has a gorgeous expression and very lovely movement. She is an extremely feminine bitch, with the longest eyelashes I have ever seen on a dog!!! Rosie has had limited showing in order to let her brother Casey have the limelight but is now starting to show she has the same "look at me" winning style of her father and brother. In the fall of 2006, I had the opportunity to acquire a female pup sired by Treis Pinheiros Black Bear SW (Zorro) out of Laponderosa's Chica Bom owned by Richard and Susan Boyle in Victoria, BC. Zorro comes from a well established kennel owned by Carlos Pedroso in Brazil and I had long admired many of his dogs. Zorro is a double Starhaven Andrew grandson, who's mother Solo's Marina is closely related to all of my other dogs. I felt that Fanny would add some valuable characteristics from the other side of the ledger and she came to live with us in October of 2006. In a few days she was running the place, and had everyone totally in love with her. She has boundless energy and a "take no prisoners' attitude. I have not had the opportunity to show her much, but in her first outing at the Hub City Kennel Club she took 2 Winners Bitch placements and was the Best Puppy in Specialty Show at the Prairie Dachshund Cub's annual Specialty, under breeder- judge Sherrill Snyder. Not bad for a first time out!! I am looking forward to showing Fanny and getting her into Agility and other dog sports as she is incredibly athletic.
