My husband Marc and I have shared our lives with many wonderful dogs over the years. In 1999 we discovered Standard Wirehair Dachshund and have never considered another breed since.

I invested more than a year studying pedigrees and bloodlines and finding a breeder that would also be a mentor to me. It was my extraordinary good fortune to meet Midge Martin of Libertyville, Illinois (See Links) in this journey. She took me under her wing early on, shared her vast knowledge of the breed with me over many e-mails and telephone conversations and visits to the home she shares with her husband Don, numerous Dachshunds and a Basset named Tiara…I have been forever grateful that she entrusted several of her pups to us.
